Greeting Postcards
The goal of this project was to create a “greetings from” postcard for Hoi An, a historical city in Vietnam known for its ancient town and lantern festivals, making it a great tourist destination.
The Process
Starting with what I had
The choice to create a post card for Hoi An was a much more personal choice for me. I have visited Hoi An before, and have been amazed by how beautiful the architecture is and the color of the lanterns that line the streets. It’s a gorgeous place and I want to share that beauty through this postcard.
It’s also such a fascinating place, as you can learn a lot of history while touring!
Unfortunately, I only had the original artwork for the previous postcard I had made, and the memory of how I used that artwork.
Recreating the artwork
I brought the old artwork into an illustrating program, sketching over what I originally had to refine the details, adding more clarity and definition to the artwork to create a higher quality version that I could work with
Adding in the text
Once the artwork was done, I brought it into illustrator to apply the text, adding the city name, greeting, and including the city’s official seal. I then designed a simple layout on the back of the postcard, incorporating the name of the city and adding lines as a guide for address writing.
Creating an advertisement
Taking the assets I created for the postcard, I decided to make a social media infographic as well to share more details about the city and to encourage people to come visit.

Personal Review
I really love this one, as it’s a project where I get to share a bit of my own culture! I wanted to share the beauty of the city, especially how it looks at night with the glow of all the different colored lanterns.
